Winter Walk 2014
There comes a certain point in every winter, where enough is enough. The sky is gray, the air is cold, and the everlasting winter drags on and on. While it may seem like the perfect opportuntity tio hibernate until the arrival of Spring, this is the most important time for us to show our support of the women of St. Margaret's House.
On February 16th, over 600 people came out to join us in the bitter winter air for Winter Walk. Winter Walk is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It's a one-mile solidarity walk in the heart of South Bend, followed by a cookies and hot chocolate at St. Margaret's House. In a survey given the to women of St. Margaret's House, we discovered that 80% of our women either walk or take the bus to get to us. They come all year round, regardless of temperature, and weather. Our Winter Walk is intentionally done in the winter, in order to show our support for what the women go through to get to us.
This year, we raised $58,513. Even though, it was a cold day, our hearts were warmed by all of the people that came out to show their support. We are so grateful and humbled by the love and support that we recieved.
We want to thank you for coming out to join us this year for our Winter Walk. We couldn't have done it without you!
